Reflective Journal 1

Sadly I actually did not complete a reflective journal one and there fore could not truthfully post it.  However, If I do recall how I felt during the beginning of the class and that is clearly reflected upon in my second Reflective Journal

Grade your efforts to participate in the learning process (i.e., attendance and participation in classroom sessions and activities). The highest score to be earned for 8 weeks is 80. Simply count the number of days you were present in class. Include excused absences that you incurred with proper notification and/or proof for reason of absence provided. Attendance and participation points should be 3 points each Monday and each Wednesday and 4 points each Friday. Do not give points to yourself on days you made unreasonable absences specially if your attendance has been plagued by some days of long absence or plagued by on and off presence in class. Count only the days you were present and days you were reasonably excused due to proper notification and/or proof provided.
Efforts to participate in the learning process: Attendance and Participation in classroom sessions and activities.

Adding all your scores on the four areas above that you have ethically and fairly computed, write the total and divide it with 155. The resulting number will be your average so far from out of these four areas of grading we have covered.

Overall Score: __130_/155
Average: _84__%

Important Note:

  1. There is still a remaining total of 845 points to be computed from all other work categories. This means that you have all the big chances to gain a lot of points or lose a lot points depending on your efforts to make it well in this class.

  2. Your score for this Activity 1 will be based on your exercise of ethics or honesty in assessing your work performance. Remember that all works submitted are on file. Absences are properly recorded.

Activity 2: Make a qualitative Assessment of your learning progress in the second month or the last four weeks: Weeks 5, 6, 7, and 8 (September 21 to October 16).

During the Second month the classes mainly focused on preparing and evaluation informative speeches. In this time I have learned many things about myself, the most important being time management. It seems that whenever something has to be done I will allot myself time to do it, however; this does not take into account for things that may come up. I learned that it is important to get work out of the way first while there is nothing going that way I am not bombarded with work at one time. I learned this lesson because due to my procrastination I found myself doing work all weekend and missing an event that I would have otherwise partook in. This again brings us to the second thing I learned which was self discipline. Doing what one must instead of what one wants to do. I needed to be disciplined and do what needed to be done even though it was not necessarily pleasant.

Activity 3: Reflect, give your grade goal and plan for action (20 points)

Based on the quality of learning as you have discussed in Activity 2 and based on your work accomplishments as you have computed in Activity 1, make a discussion of the following:

  1. My strengths would be diligence and self disipline.

  2. My primary weakness is time management.

  3. The grade I intended to achieve would have been a A instead it is more of a B-. To be honest the reason I did not achieve my goal is mainly do to having a rocky start in the beginning of the class. During the first half I skipped class a lot and really was not giving it my best , yet towards the end of this period I began to get on track. The hardest part, in the beginning of the period was overcoming the work load from other classes and developing a drive to do well. What I struggled with was finding motivation within myself. The class it self was not a problem, it was a battle within myself. I expect in the final term to obtain an A in this class. The primary obstacles in my way would be procrastination and self motivation. The strategies I will employ to overcome these problems will be through better time management skills. I plan to complete assignments early so as to not become overwhelmed in the future. By doing such I will remain motivated
